ISF NET recently hosted a party to welcome new employees with foreign backgrounds.
At ISF NET, we provide solutions for cloud, server, network security, and other IT infrastructure needs. Although our main office is in Japan, many of our employees have roots in other countries.

Companies in Japan are continuing to hire more global and multicultural staff. However, it can be a real challenge for employees starting at a new company in a new country with a different set of cultural norms. At ISF NET, we hope events like this welcome party will help employees to build relationships and feel at ease.
The welcome party took place in the evening near ISF NET’s main office in Tokyo. Around 20 new employees attended – many new to Japan and just starting their careers. Japanese staff who are in charge of hiring global talent were also present to help facilitate the event.
The night kicked off with appetizers and self-introductions. Each participant shared a bit about their country, culture, and what they were looking forward to in Japan. Many of them have diverse international backgrounds and can speak multiple languages. Some already have experience living in Japan while others arrived just a few weeks ago.
Food included Japanese bar favorites, like fried chicken karaage, sashimi, and other “otsumami” (snack dishes). Attendees loved the food and had fun talking about their favorite Japanese dishes and what food in their home country is like.
We also heard about people’s careers up to this point, and why they decided to come work in Japan. Japanese employees chimed in with their tips for living and working in Japan.
We received feedback from participants after the event. Here are some of their comments:
“I was able to meet people I don’t usually get to see. It was great to have a chance to socialize like this.”
“I got to ask questions directly and ease some of the worries that I had.”
“It was so fun being able to talk to people from different countries and departments!”
The welcome party was a great opportunity for employees from different cultural backgrounds to interact. Everyone was a bit more relaxed afterward and we were able to grow closer as a company. I’m sure everyone left the event energized and motivated!
ISF NET is growing as a multicultural company and is committed to supporting employees’ careers in the long term. I’m looking forward to more events like this in the future! Until next time!
Mentorship Program for Foreigners at ISF NET
At ISF NET, foreign employees who have recently joined the company are paired with a mentor who they can consult about work, career development, and life in Japan. The mentorship program assists employees in building relationships at the company.
